Jake Peavy Battles Flu – Not Good Timing

facebooktwitterreddit

Peavy had been absent from camp the past two days, returning to the White Sox Clubhouse this morning. He had been weakened significantly by flu symptoms. Pitching coach Don Cooper elaborated on the symptoms he was exuding, but I’ll spare you the imagery.

First signs appear that Peavy will still make his next scheduled start Saturday, but that may get pushed back to Sunday depending on how his workout today goes.

As for the rest of the team, they take on Oakland today at 4:05 p.m. Arizona time (they don’t acknowledge daylight savings here, so it’s two hours behind Central time now).

John Danks is on the mound, coming off a five-inning, one-hit performance on Sunday. Still, he’s walked eight batters in 10 1/3 innings, so look for him to work on location and fastball command today. Lastings Milledge is in the leadoff spot with a chance to really get a grip on that backup outfield position. Alejandro De Aza is in the lineup as well, and Brent Lillibridge will probably come in late.
