Konerko Arizona-Bound

Okay, so Paul Konerko was going to Arizona anyway – he lives in Scottsdale, but now he’ll be going donning a cap of the American League All-Stars after winning the “Final Vote” over Victor Martinez, Alex Gordon, Adam Jones and Big Ben Zobrist.

Each candidate was worthy of an All-Star bid, but none moreso than Mr. Konerko.

While this is all good and fabulous news, the more important news isn’t as hot. The Sox dropped the opening game to the Minnesota Twins on Thursday, 6-2. Konerko went 0-for-3 and Adam Dunn struck out three more times as Phil Humber was knocked around by his former team and received only a two-run homer off the bat of Mark Teahen for support.

Sox are back at it Friday night and I’ll be  there covering the last three games before the break. Make sure to follow me on Twitter at @AtTravisMiller (go ahead, say that sentence out loud) for live updates.
