Danks Set to Return Wednesday

The White Sox optioned lefty Hector Santiago to Double-A Birmingham to make room on the roster for John Danks, who will be activated Wednesday to start against the Kansas City Royals.

Santiago made a good impression in his brief stint in the big leagues – he appeared twice,  tossing 5 1/3 scoreless innings . He yielded just one hit while striking out a pair. Both outings were against division rivals, including 4 1/3 against the Twins.

Danks (3-8, 4.21 ERA) hasn’t pitched since June 25 when he left after three innings with an oblique injury. Despite starting the season 0-8, Danks had won his last three decisions before the injury.
