The Chicago White Sox have announced their schedule for the 2012 season. For the second consecutive year, but just the third time in eight years, the Sox open on the road.

The Sox will begin the season with a three-game set against the Texas Rangers from April 6-8. Their home opener is Friday, April 13 against Detroit. The seven-game homestand also includes a four-game series against the Baltimore Orioles.

The interleague schedule for the White Sox features the usual six games against the Cubs (May 18-20 at Wrigley, June 18-20 at U.S. Cellular), as well as a three-game series at home against Houston (June 8-10), three at the Cardinals (June 12-14), three at the Los Angeles Dodgers (June 15-17) and the White Sox conclude interleague play at home against Milwaukee (June 22-24).

The interleague schedule is fairly even. Milwaukee and St. Louis posing the greatest threat. It also opens the door for a Mark Buehrle vs. White Sox matchup if Buehrle departs via free agency.

The White Sox face Boston eight times and the Yankees seven times next year.

They have a pair of 10-game homestands and a pair of 10-game road trips.
