Walker Resigns, Hawk Extended

The 2012 White Sox  coaching staff continued to take form on Wednesday as hitting coach Greg Walker announced his resignation.

Bench coach Joey Cora and Walker are officially gone, and pitching coach Don Cooper and first base coach Harold Baines will be back. That leaves third base coach Jeff Cox and bullpen coach Juan Nieves to be decided on. Decisions could come as early as this week or might wait until a new manager is in place.

Mike Gellinger came in to serve as Cooper’s bench coach for the final two games. It’s unclear if he will look for a permanent spot with the team – again, the decision will not be up to him or general manager Kenny Williams, it will be up to whoever the new manager is.

The White Sox also announced that they extended TV play-by-play announcer Hawk Harrelson through the 2015 season. Enjoy!
