Lunch Baseball – Lineups 5/30

Jose Quintana will get one more opportunity to prove he belongs. It would seem no matter what he shows us today he’ll be headed back down to Birmingham, or perhaps if they choose to make room for him, Charlotte. Quintana has been impressive in his two appearances but John Danks is only scheduled to miss this last start before rejoining the rotation. Last I saw Robin Ventura said that a rehab start is unlikely for the man that was tabbed as our staff ace entering the season.

For the Rays, Alex Cobb will take mound. Cobb’s thrown about the same amount of innings as Quintana in 2012 but also has some 2011 MLB experience to lean on. Keeping the ball in the park seems to be a specialty of his, so it will be interesting to see if the Sox are able to get around that skill or if they can piece together some well timed hits as they did against James Shields.

Today’s Lineup:

1.De Aza – CF
2.Gordo – 2B
3.Dunn – 1B
4.Konerko – DH
5.Rios – RF
6.AJ – C
7.Viciedo – LF
8.Ramirez – SS
9.Hudson – 3B

Is there a catcher in the league more likely to start a day after night game than A.J. Pierzynski?

Another sweep is on the table here. After departing Florida the Sox will open June with a weekend series at home against the Mariners, which bodes well by the numbers. And if you’re prone to believe the taunts of Kenny Williams, you’d better go get some tickets.
