According to the Tampa Bay Times, the White Sox are close to signing supplemental round draft pick Keon Barnum. Barnum was entertaining the idea of attending the University of Miami on scholarship but it seems the team is close to closing a deal with the big first baseman. The recommended bonus for his draft spot is just over a million dollars, and the White Sox were not know for going above slot even before MLB’s new collective bargaining agreement, so its highly unlikely that will change now.

Matt Adams is a White Sox fan to the degree that few can understand. Growing up in the Chicago suburbs, his parents made the correct choice in making sure that his first live baseball experience took place at Comiskey Park. These days you can typically find him at U.S. Cellular Field, and if you buy him a beer, he’ll buy you one back. When not writing, watching or talking baseball, what he’s doing is anybody’s guess.
