This Won’t Be a Quick Game – Lineups 7/7

With a Friday night victory, one in which Jake Peavy actually received run support, the White Sox ensured that they will head into the break as the only team remaining in the majors to have not been swept. With a win today, they can ensure they’ll also stroll into the break with sole possession of first place. In order to accomplish that, Gavin Floyd will have to defeat some sour history against the Blue Jays. Per Daryl Van Schouwen on Twitter, Floyd is 0-5 with a 7.26 ERA in 7 career games against Toronto. In an attempt to counter that depressing stat, we can try and get comfortable with the fact that hot hitting Kevin Youkilis carries some impressive numbers off of today’s starter for the Blue Jays, Ricky Romero. In 23 at-bats Youk is hitting .348 with 3 homers off Romero. Romero has not been throwing well at all. In his last 8 starts he has not surrendered less than 3 runs in any and in his last 2 he’s given up 8 each. Either he’s hiding injury or he’s battling some serious Gavin Floyd syndrome, which would be appropriate.

Today’s Lineup:

1.De Aza – CF
2.Youk – 3B
3.Dunn – DH
4.Konerko – 1B
5.Rios – RF
6.AJ – C
7.Dayan – LF
8.Alexei – SS
9.Hudson – 2B

Gordo will enjoy a day off allowing Orlando Hudson (remember him?!) to get into the lineup for a day. O-Dog caught some time at 2B the other day and looked comfortable defensively, even made a pretty nifty play. Hopefully he carries some of that original position comfort to the plate and contributes to what will in all likelihood be a shootout. Between Romero’s recent struggles and Gavin Floyd’s fear of Blue Jays, I’m putting the over/under on run scoring at 12 today.
