Gavin Floyd DL Creates Early September Call-Up

In a couple days when rosters expand Dylan Axelrod would have made his return to the club in all likelihood. Now he gets to pull MLB pay for an extra day or two, as the White Sox have brought him up to take Gavin Floyd’s roster spot. Floyd will be returning to the disabled list for the same elbow issue that put him there previously. Floyd pitched 2 innings against the Mariners on Sunday before being removed because of the tightness he was experiencing in that pesky elbow of his. Since his return after his last trip to recovery he hasn’t been absolutely brutal but he hasn’t blown anybody’s hat off either.

Axelrod will start on Wednesday against the Orioles. What to expect in that start is just about as easy as guessing what Floyd’s start would have been.
