Brett Myers to Sign With Cleveland Indians

The Indians are contemplating establishing a collection of short-time White Sox. Brett Myers, acquired by the White Sox in a midseason trade with the Astros last summer is set to sign a 1-year deal with Cleveland. The report from Jon Heyman indicates that a 2014 club option will also be included.

**Update**
Myers’ deal is for $7M which seems more than reasonable if he is, in fact, going to start as reported.

The Indians recently signed Nick Swisher, who played just a single season with the White Sox in 2008. That acquisition coming shortly after acquiring Trevor Bauer and Drew Stubbs in a 3 team trade that sent Shin-Soo Choo to the Reds. Myers is by no means a player that will determine the fate of an organization but as other division contenders continue to add pieces, White Sox fans begin to wonder if there is anything else in store for their own roster makeup. The Indians have plenty of warm bodies to plug into the rotation, but if Myers can recapture his 2010 form he would prove to be a steal.

The new year has begun and the new season isn’t far behind. Until then, we sit back and watch free agents come off the board. Preferably not to organizations with designs on knocking the White Sox down in the standings.
