The Game Matters For Somebody – Game Preview and Lineups 9/12

The weather is forecasted to cool down a bit over the next few days, and this can only serve to benefit John Danks, who served up 3 long balls in his last outing. That is the fourth time this season he’s allowed that many, and the man missed all of April as well as most of May. The cool weather may help him keep the ball in the yard, something that understandably bodes well for his outings. There is only one start this year that failed to qualify as “quality” when he’s managed to not serve up anything deep. These gusty winds though…oh I’m sure it won’t matter.

The Indians are fighting for their playoff lives. As it stands currently, they are 1.5 games out of a Wild Card spot, needing to leap from both the Yankees who sit a game out and either the Rays or the Rangers who are the current projected teams to match up in the play-in game. They’ll be putting tonight’s hopes into the hands of Corey Kluber. Kluber was a batter away from a complete game the last time he faced the White Sox but ultimately allowed 4 runs in the contest, which the Indians won.
