The Chicago White Sox have won two of the first three games of the series against the Detroit Tigers, and today this one can be billed as a pitcher’s duel with the White Sox sending Jose Quintana to the mound.

Quintana will oppose AL Cy Young award winner, Max Scherzer. Quintana is 1-1 on the year with a 3.75 ERA in 2014, while Scherzer is also 1-1, but has a better ERA at 2.33.

In his career against the White Sox, Scherzer is 8-5 with a 2.67 ERA. He’s struck out 123 White Sox batters in those games. Against Scherzer, Adam Dunn has two career home runs and three RBIs against him.

Quintana is 2-0 for his career against the Tigers. His ERA against them is 2.70 with 23 strikeouts.

One matchup to watch is Rajai Davis against Quintana, as Davis holds a .500 batting average against Quintana in 14 at-bats. Miguel Cabrera has a home run against Quintana with two RBIs, and a batting average of .273 against the White Sox left-handed starter.

Last night, the White Sox won against the Tigers, 6-4. The White Sox lead the series at 2-1. With Thursday’s game the White Sox have a shot to win their first series on the road today if they leave the game with the ‘W.’

This AL Central game will air on CSN in Chicago, and on Fox Sports in Detroit. Out of market viewers can watch the game on MLB.TV. On the radio, in Chicago, WSCR 670 will air the game, and also be on MLB Audio.
