One of the top prospects in the Chicago White Sox minor league system, Micah Johnson has been promoted to Triple-A Charlotte, after starting the season with the Birmingham Barons, in Double-A.

Johnson this season is batting .329 with 18 runs and 16 RBIs in 37 games played.

The second baseman has collected 48 hits (nine doubles, one triple, one home run) and was the 2013 Southern League Finals MVP, as the Barons were the champions of the Southern League last season.

Johnson was the No. 16 overall MLB prospect by MLB.com before the season. He was the ninth overall selection of the 2012 MLB First-Year Player Draft.

This is the next step in the progression of Johnson, and eventually one day he will be playing on a daily basis for the White Sox. It is good to see he’s competing at a high level in the minors to now be one step away from the majors.

How long do you feel it will be before we see Johnson in a White Sox uniform, playing at US Cellular Field?
