Micah Johnson, Francellis Montas named to Futures game roster

Two Chicago White Sox prospects were named to the Futures Game roster, with Micah Johnson to play on the US Team and Francellis Montas to play on the World Team.

Johnson is listed as one of eight infielders on the US Roster, as he’s in Triple-A Charlotte, playing for the Knights.

The second baseman, Johnson, is batting .279 with the Knights in 24 games played this season in Triple-A. He’s also played Double-A baseball this season. In 37 games in Double-A he batted .329 with three home runs and 16 RBIs.

Johnson is listed as the No. 2 prospect for the White Sox, while Montas is No. 16. The No. 1 White Sox prospect is Matt Davidson.

Montas is 3-0 with a 1.64 ERA in nine starts with the Winston-Salem Dash. In those starts he’s pitched 55 innings, allowing 10 earned runs and walking 11. Montas has struck out 51 batters in Advanced Class-A baseball.

The MiLB Futures Game will be played on Sunday, July 13 at Target Field, the home of the Minnesota Twins. It is scheduled to start at 5 p.m. ET.
