Happy Birthday, Alexei Ramirez!

Today (Sept. 22) is the birthday of Chicago White Sox shortstop Alexei Ramirez. Ramirez is 33 years old.

Ramirez, who was born on Sept. 22, 1981,  has played with the White Sox since making his MLB debut at the age of 26 years old on Match 31, 2008.

Ramirez is signed through the 2015 season, with a team option for 2016.

As for this year, Ramirez in 152 games is batting .276 with a .307 on-base percentage before Monday’s game at the Detroit Tigers.

The White Sox have a three-game series at Detroit, before returning to US Cellular Field for a four-game season finale against the Kansas City Royals.

Ramirez, who was an All-Star this season, has totaled 72 RBIs and has 21 stolen bases with one week remaining in the season. Of his 165 hits, 15 are home runs, two are triples and 33 are doubles. He has also drawn 23 walks.

Also this season, in the field, Ramirez has a .981 fielding percentage, committing just 13 errors in 1,324.2 innings and 673 chances.

For his career with the White Sox, Ramirez has a .277 batting average.
