At the start of the 2014 season if you would have told me that Alejandro De Aza and Gordon Beckham would be playing in the ALDS I would have said “alright!”

On Thursday night, we did get to see both of those players in the ALDS, but in different games, and on teams other than the Chicago White Sox.

So, the excitement just wasn’t what I would have hoped for at the start of the season.

In late August the White Sox traded De Aza to the Baltimore Orioles and Beckham to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, and both of those teams played in the ALDS on Thursday evening.

The O’s defeated the AL Central champ Detroit Tigers, 12-3 in a rout. De Aza had two doubles and two RBIs, all coming in the 8th inning. Beckham was 0-for-1 in a reserve role with the Angels, as they lost to the Kansas City Royals, 3-2 in 11 innings.

Here is a fun fact … both former White Sox batters were hit by a pitch in their first plate appearance of their respective ALDS games.

Were you cheering on these two former White Sox players on Thursday night, or were you cheering on the AL Central?
