With Spring Training approaching White Sox GM Rick Hahn doesn’t expect to make any additions. However, he will not count out making additional deals.

The Chicago White Sox seem content with the current makeup of their roster. At least that’s what general manager Rick Hahn says. He told Colleen Kane that trade talks will continue, but focus has shifted to getting ready for the season.

Meanwhile, Dan Hayes tweets the White Sox are open to subtractions but won’t look to add anyone before spring training ends. That is unless there is an injury.

This looks like it will be the roster Rick Renteria goes into the 2017 season with. It looks a little different without Adam Eaton and Chris Sale but other than that, a lot of players are back. Hahn told reporters previously he doesn’t expect this team to contend, so we may see a lot of players that will help bridge the gap. The organization has added a lot of quality young talent through those trades. They may not be done yet.

I don’t see a major issue with this team getting ready for the season. Hahn definitely wants his guys to be able to relax and focus on the upcoming season. He doesn’t guys worrying about their name coming in trade rumors. However, he hasn’t totally dismissed the idea of making additional trades before opening day.

It’s no secret this team continues to be in contact with the front office of other clubs. Most teams do their due diligence so that shouldn’t be a surprise, on anyone who is made available. A lot of teams talk but that doesn’t mean a deal will be made. Teams constantly bounce names off each other to see if something can happen.

The White Sox definitely have some work to do. They didn’t completely address all their needs during the offseason. But they feel they have enough to get by this season. Hahn doesn’t feel this team can compete but stranger things have happened. Maybe we’ll get a surprise and see how good this team can be early. The White Sox system is loaded with talent and guys who have bright futures. And it’s only a matter of time before they become a serious contender.
