The Chicago White Sox have had Jose Abreu through good times and bad. It is so important that he is there through this potential breakout year.

The Chicago White Sox have had a lot of pretty good young players be added to the organization over the years. They declared a rebuilding phase at the end of 2016 so they traded all of their MLB talents for a surplus of prospects. They were bad on the Major League field but the organization started to bloom into a very strong one. One constant through all of that is a first baseman, Jose Abreu.

Abreu has been one of the best first basemen in all of baseball while playing on a team that was not very good. He never complained or requested a trade through any of the dark times. He wanted to be a part of the solution. He has been given that chance as he has stuck it out during the rebuilding years. Now, he is going to be a big part of a White Sox team that will be looking to win.

Abreu is going to be right in the middle of a revamped White Sox lineup that should be able to score some runs. He led the American League in runs batted in in 2019. That came in a lineup that was just starting to elevate their status as one of the better ones. Now, the guys around him will have yet another year of experience. This could help Jose Abreu elevate his numbers even more in 2020.

It is also nice to have Abreu around because every team needs a leader. Most of the White Sox roster is made up of younger players. Abreu has been in the league for a while now so he should be able to be there for guys during good stretches and bad stretches. They are going to have a year that should have some ups and downs in 2020. It is up to Abreu to build them up when they are down and keep them grounded when things are good. It is really good to have a guy like Jose Abreu in the organization right.
