The Chicago White Sox were able to address another need of theirs as they acquired third baseman Todd Frazier in a three-team trade with the Cincinnati Reds and Los Angeles Dodgers on Wednesday according to reports.

The White Sox will send pitcher Frankie Montas, second baseman Micah Johnson and outfielder Trayce Thompson to the Dodgers. The Reds will receive infielder Jose Peraza, outfielder Scott Schebler and infielder Brandon Dixon from the Dodgers.

“Todd is one of the finer all around third baseman in the league,” said White Sox general manager Rick Hahn in a statement. “He is a high-character, smart baseball player who will provide an impact bat in the middle of our order. He solidifies us defensively at third base and provides a great presence in our lineup and in the clubhouse.”

With two years of team control remaining on his contract, Frazier will fit a need for the White Sox at least over the next two seasons. The White Sox haven’t had a quality third baseman since Joe Crede’s last season in 2008.

Although the White Sox get a quality player in return, the players given up to obtain Frazier might have been too high. Montas will most likely become a solid reliever and Johnson can provide fantastic speed for the Dodgers. However, the White Sox might miss Thompson’s ability to play multiple outfield positions in 2016.
