Eloy Jimenez wasn’t the only notable piece that the White Sox received in the Jose Quintana trade. Dylan Cease was a high-end pitching prospect and now he is looking to be a high-end MLB starter for the Sox. He had an okay start to his MLB career in 2019 but he is looking to take another step in 2020. He has had two starts in Spring Training and each of them saw him look a little bit different.

He was very good in his first start. He clearly has the stuff to be a great starter one day. He showed it in that first start of Spring Training but his second start didn’t go quite as well. He gave up a leadoff home fun but then shut them down the rest of the inning. The next inning wasn’t as kind to him. He gave up a few runs and didn’t look like he had his command in full control.

Dylan Cease is a guy that the White Sox are going to be looking to take a big step in 2020. They are looking for that from a lot of players but Cease being better could make this rotation very good. They are hoping that it is at least six pitchers deep for the five spots. Cease is a big part of the present and future so a big year for him would go a long way.
