The Chicago White Sox are in a good spot with their roster. They have stars all over the place and they appear to be willing to spend this offseason. If they make some smart moves, they should be able to contend for the World Series once again in 2022. They were AL Central Division champions in 2021 as they made the playoffs in consecutive years for the first time ever.

There are a lot of teams in the American League that will make thins hard for the White Sox. Of course, they can beat anybody but it is harder with more good teams around the league. The AL West is typically a problem for the White Sox which is a hurdle that they need to get over.

For a long time, the Seattle Mariners were the worst team in that division. They have been absent for the postseason for about two decades which is just insane. It does appear, however, that their streak of missing the postseason could be over really soon.

In 2021, the Mariners won 90 games but just failed to make the postseason. They were surprisingly good all year long as many expected them to be in the basement of the American League West once again. Now, with some solid additions along with growth in their young players, they could be very good in 2022.

The Chicago White Sox are competing with the Seattle Mariners during the offseason.

They are active in rumors during MLB free agency right now. The collective bargaining agreement is set to expire on December 1st and there might be some wild movement before then as players want to have homes before they are no longer allowed to sign. The Mariners already made a huge trade for Adam Frazier earlier in the week so it will be interesting to see what’s next.

Robert Murray of FanSided reported that the Mariners are one of the teams interested in Kris Bryant. However, it is expected that he will not be one of the players who sign before the December 1st deadline. He is likely to wait until the work stoppage comes to an end.

This would be huge for the Mariners. Kris Bryant isn’t the best free agent available but he is a very good one. He can also play every position on the diamond except for pitcher and catcher which would be wildly helpful for the Mariners if they wanted to do so.

This is important as White Sox fans because they are going to be a team (we think) that should be in postseason contention in 2022 and beyond. It is important for the White Sox to keep up with all of the other surprise teams in the AL right now. These rumors should really motivate the Sox to make moves as well because everyone else seems to be coming on strong.
