The Chicago White Sox could use a second baseman like Whit Merrifield.

The Chicago White Sox really needs a second baseman. It seems like Josh Harrison or Leury Garcia always come up to bat in the biggest spots and almost never get the job done. The problem with them is they either get it done in the most exciting way possible or have non-competitive at-bats.

If they could upgrade that position, their lineup would look even scarier. Of course, the other guys in the lineup would need to look much more like their old selves for anyone to be scared but that feels like it is going to happen.

Whit Merrifield is someone that the White Sox should know quite well. He is under contract for the rest of 2022, 2023, and has a mutual option for 2024. He would make a lot of sense because his contract fits this window that the White Sox have built.

It would be less than ideal to see them give up all three of Yoelqui Cespedes and Jake Burger for anyone but this would be worth it. Jimmy Lambert being thrown in is an extra bonus to see if the Royals can get something out of him. They would certainly love the former two.

Merrifield is a very good player that could help get the White Sox over the top. He is a two-time All-Star that is good defensively and with his bat. He would be perfect for the White Sox in almost every way.
