Liner Off Face Lands Humber on DL

Phil Humber was removed from the game in the second inning after taking Kosuke Fukudome‘s line drive straight to the forehead (seen here) in Thursday night’s 4-2 loss to the Cleveland Indians.

On Friday, the White Sox placed the righty on the 15-day disabled list with a facial contusion.

To fill the roster spot, the White Sox purchased the contract of Josh Kinney from Triple-A Charlotte.

Humber is 8-8 on the season with a 3.63 ERA in his breakout year with the White Sox.

For more on what role Kinney will play and for further updates on Humber, check back here later or follow me on Twitter as I will be tweeting from U.S. Cellular Field all weekend as the White Sox host the A.L. West front-running Texas Rangers.
