Cora Out, Coop and Baines Extended

General manager Kenny Williams allegedly texted bench coach and interim manager Joey Cora on Tuesday morning, essentially firing him, as the Chicago Sun-Times reports. Williams denied the reports when he met with the media before Tuesday night’s game, saying they had a productive and brief phone conversation.

Pitching coach Don Cooper will take over as interim manager for the White Sox’s final two games against the Toronto Blue Jays.

The team also announced that Cooper received a multi-year contract extension, as did first base coach Harold Baines.
