Nestor Molina to DL

When Sergio Santos was dealt over the weekend the White Sox received a young pitcher by the name of Nestor Molina in return. Molina was thought to profile into a back of the rotation starter once he’s ready and has been toiling in the farm system every since, mostly for AA Birmingham. He’ll have to take a break from toiling for now as he’s been placed on the DL with right elbow tendinitis. There seems to be a decent chance he could miss the remainder of 2012*. The Sox will await results of an MRI to determine the length of his time away from the team.

*according to Chicago Tribune’s Mark Gonzales, Molina will only miss one or two starts.

Molina has been less impressive in 2012 than he had been in 2011 but he remains one of the more highly touted prospects in the White Sox system, which is regularly taking verbal abuse for its lack of depth.
