Stop Losing! – Game Preview And Lineups 7/29

facebooktwitterreddit

It’s a scuffle. A losing streak. They’re having a rough go of it. The White Sox head out on the road where they’ve managed to win just 18 games so far and John Danks has an ERA north of 6. It doesn’t look good. And if everybody is as stressed as Robin Ventura implies while they wait to see if they’re headed off to winning cities, this series could get ugly.

Danks will do his best to get the Sox a road win, though he’s very much a part of the current team woes. He’s gone 7 innings in each of his last 2 starts despite giving up 11 total runs. He’s out there to fill time. An opening act stuck on stage because the headliner is out getting drunk and hasn’t shown up yet.

Zach McAllister has faced the White Sox twice already this year, pitching reasonably in both. In the 12 innings compiled in those starts he’s allowed 6 runs (4 earned). That’s like one John Danks start! McAllister still has the issue of not getting deep into games, so if the White Sox are bothering with any sort of “plan of attack” these days, it should probably revolve around that in some way or another.
