The 2014 Minor League Baseball season began on Thursday with the Chicago White Sox affiliates going 2-2 on their respective Opening Days.

Here are some stats and results from Thursday, April 3.

Triple-A: Charlotte Knights

The winning pitcher was Charlotte’s Scott Carroll (1-0). He pitched 6.0 innings, allowing no runs on five hits and two walks. Carroll had four strikeouts.

The save went to David Purcey. He pitched 2.0 innings, allowing no runs and no hits with one walk and two strikeouts.

Matt Davidson led Charlotte at the plate, finishing 3-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI. Davidson also drew one walk.

Josh Phegley was 1-for-4 with a triple. Jared Mitchell hit a home run and finished with two RBIs.

The winning pitcher was Birmingham’s Chris Beck (1-0). He pitched 5.0 innings, allowing two earned runs on four hits and one walk. Beck had three strikeouts and gave up a home run.

Micah Johnson, Michael Earley and Jaime Pedroza each had two hits. Johnson’s two hits were a triple and home run, finishing with two RBIs and one walk.

Pedroza hit two home runs and totaled two RBIs. Josh Richmond had one hit and two RBIs.

James Dykstra (0-1) suffered the loss for Kannapolis. He pitched five innings, allowing two earned runs on six hits and two walks. He struck out four.

Gaining one hit each for Kannapolis were Cleuluis Rondon, Danny Hayes, Jacob Morris and Trey Michalczewski. Rondon had the lone RBI for Kannapolis. Rondon and Hayes’ hits were doubles.

Adam Engel scored the lone run for the Intimidators.
