As the talk of the day on Thursday was all abut the MLB non-waiver trade deadline, we must not forget how Chicago White Sox veteran and captain Paul Konerko gained his 4,000th total base of his White Sox career in a win against the Detroit Tigers.

Konerko gained the 4000th base with a double in the fourth inning off Drew Smyly. The double made Konerko 2-for-2 at the time.

Also for the White Sox on Thursday, Jose Abreu gained a hit in 20 consecutive games. Abreu also his had at least one hit in 38 of the past 39 games. Here is a game article from the Chicago Sun-Times taking about the 3-for-3 day of Abreu.

Even though the White Sox didn’t make any deals, it was a good day on the baseball diamond for them as they totaled 16 hits and took the series from the Tigers, which is something the White Sox really needed.
