Jose Abreu has been the best player on the Chicago White Sox for a few years now. He came into the league and impacted this team as much as any player had ever had before him.

Playing a great defensive first base and being an annual MVP-caliber player hitter is always a good thing for a major league team that is trying to win.

Abreu is someone that would fit in well with all 30 Major League Baseball teams. He can provide instant offense and veteran leadership to whatever group he joins.

There are some teams out there that are more likely than others to sign him. There are (besides the Chicago White Sox) three teams, however, that appear to be frontrunners.

Jose Abreu is going to bring a lot of good tings to his next MLB team.

3. Chicago Cubs

We've all heard the reports. The Chicago Cubs and Jose Abreu have mutual interest right now. It makes perfect sense. They need a veteran, a first baseman, and some instant offense. Abreu would provide all of those things to them and he wouldn't have to move very far at all.

Abreu has had a lot of success hitting at Wrigley Field in his career and now is his chance to make that his home stadium. That would be devastating for White Sox fans but it is on the table right now.

2. Houston Astros

The defending World Series champion Houston Astros could be looking to get even better during the offseason. That is what good teams do. They have great players all over the diamond and are sure to remain contenders over the next few years and Abreu would certainly help them with that.

Of course, lots of fans dislike the Astros because of the 2017 sign-stealing scandal but Abreu would be no part of that if he joined them now. They would give him a chance to win a ring late in his career which would certainly be cool to see.

1. San Diego Padres

If the White Sox are ever trying to get a Major League transaction done, expect the San Diego Padres to also be in the mix. We know about the past with that team. They are rumored to have Abreu as a top priority and everyone should believe them.

They made the smart trade that landed Fernando Tatis Jr. They signed Manny Machado. The won the Juan Soto sweepstakes. Now, Abreu could very well go join the party in southern California.

It would certainly be tough to watch Abreu leave but it is certainly on the table. If he joins one of these three teams, don't be surprised.
