Plate Jumps Around on Buehrle in Loss

Mark Buehrle certainly did not have his normal control yesterday night. He walked a season high 5 batters, and the Royals took advantage of this with their singles hitting lineup. It’s a testament to how good a pitcher Mark Buehrle is when he can go 7 innings without his best stuff. Not to nit pick, but some of those balls appeared to be strikes.

Carlos Quentin continued the tear he was on by hitting a monster home run to deep center field. Quentin garnered the AL player of the week award for last week.

After Quentin’s solo shot in the fourth, the White Sox failed to score against Anthony Lerew. This was another example of the White Sox offense doing poorly against someone they haven’t seen before.

In the ninth inning, the sox loaded the bases with one out, but two consecutive pop outs ended the game.

Final Score: White Sox 1 Royals 3

OTHER NEWS AND NOTES:

According to Joe Cowley of the Chicago Sun Times, Sox GM Kenny Williams has expressed interest in Nationals OF/1B Adam Dunn.

This would be a significant acquisition given that Kotsay has  failed to produce thus  far. Dunn is a huge  power threat from the left side of the plate, and the team could hide his poor defense at DH. He is in the final year of his contract, and it appears the nationals would be seeking young starting pitching in return.
