Floyd Pitches Well In Loss, Still No Run Support

Over the last 9 starts, Gavin Floyd is statistically the best pitcher in the American League. Throughout this stretch, however, he has received minimal help from his offense. Felix Hernandez bested the White Sox once again. The opportunities were there for the Sox to win, but they didn’t capitalize on them. Bobby Jenks blew another save. Ozzie Guillen thinks that his velocity is not there.

The next test will be the Oakland Athletics. The White Sox will again look to rebound from a loss. Oakland, and the entire AL West for that matter, have historically been a house of horrors for the Sox. They need to bounce back in their typical, resilient fashion and make this a .500 road trip.

With both the Twins and Tigers winning last night, the Sox are only 2.5 games in first place. The Sox will look for a strong start from Buehrle tomorrow night as Trevor Cahill will be on the mound for Oakland, the A’s best pitcher.
