The White Sox are coming off a great seven game homestand where they held a 6-1 record.  The only problem was that the Twins were able to make up a little ground as they went on a eight game win streak.  It is rare when a strong homestand will lose ground in the division race.  Today, the Sox have already made some ground with the first victory of a double header at Detroit.  Mark Buehrle pitched an excellent game only surrendering two runs.  With the help of three home runs and twelve runs of support, the Sox routed the Tigers in the first of a double header.

August can prove to be a decisive month for the Sox.  They are faced with six games against the Twins, as well as, six against the league worst, the Baltimore Orioles.  Tonight the Sox are putting Carlos Torres on the mound in attempt to take the second of the double header.  With the Twins playing the hot league best Rays, the Sox could look to put them behind them with the Tigers.
