The White Sox are going to play 4 in Baltimore in a wrap-around series that finishes on Monday. They should take advantage of the lowly Orioles who have the major league’s worst record. Although Baltimore has been temporarily rejuvenated by the hire of new manager Buck Showalter, the White Sox are a much better team.
The Minnesota Twins will play Cleveland this weekend, and they could conceivably sweep the Indians. It is important for the Sox to at least maintain their 1 1/2 game lead going into Tuesday’s series opener against the Twins. I anticipate that we will see Chris Sale’s major league debut at some point over the weekend.
Some other points of interest:
Carlos Delgado has drawn interest by the White Sox. He has been out of baseball for a year, and i’m very skeptical about him. It would seem that his abilities are only limited to a DH, and he is coming off of hip surgery.
Adam Dunn was claimed off waivers, but it is unclear who the team was that put in the claim. It was most likely an NL team.
Viciedo and Lillibridge continue to hit. Viciedo had a pinch hit homerun in the blowout against the Tigers, and Lillibridge had a key single in yesterday’s extra inning game after he came in to pinch run for Konerko.
