White Sox assistant GM Rick Hahn has been told that he is out of the running for the New York Mets general manager job.

Once considered almost a lock for the position, Hahn was informed today that he was out of the running along with Allard Baird, Logan White, and Dana Brown.

General manager Kenny Williams was almost certain that the White Sox would lose Hahn because over a week ago he was quoted as saying, “I know I’m gonna lose him, and it’s gonna be a heavy blow.” when asked about Hahn.

Being Williams’ right-hand man, Hahn has been a huge part of the contract talks between the White Sox and other major league players. He is a huge asset, and him not getting the Mets job is good news for the White Sox front office.

Former GM and current MLB executive Sandy Alderson and former Arizona Diamondbacks GM Josh Byrnes are the two candidates left for the position.
