Chicago White Sox designated hitter Adam Dunn underwent an emergency appendectomy after a 5-4 loss in Kansas City Tuesday night. He is expected to miss five games.
The lineup takes a slight hit, since Dunn has been solid so far for Chicago – a tidy 1.045 OPS to show for it. Small sample size, I know, but it’s still a good number to see.
Gavin Floyd got banged up a little bit last night and the offense was only able to produce runs in two innings as the White Sox fell to the Royals 7-6 in extra innings. Chris Sale allowed a two-run homer to Billy Butler and Tony Pena gave up the game-winner in the 12th.
The team finishes up the road trip in KC Wednesday and heads home to the Cell for a four-game set with the Rays starting Thursday.
A series preview will be going up either tonight or tomorrow.
