Amidst all the Manny Ramirez retiring madness at U.S. Cellular today, White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen expressed doubt as to whether Dunn, who had an emergency appendectomy Tuesday night, will be ready to go at the beginning of next week.
“Every day he feels a little bit better,” Guillen said. “I don’t expect him to be back in five days, to be honest with you. It’s too much to push.”
Dunn may beg to differ, but Guillen is taking the cautious “Jake Peavy” route with his left-handed slugger. Don’t even expect a pinch-hit appearance against the Rays.
“I’d rather lose a game than all of a sudden he has a bad swing and hurt himself and we lose him for we don’t know how long. We don’t need him right now.”
