It didn’t take long for Dayan Viciedo to have an immediate impact in the White Sox’s lineup, blasting a three-run homer in the fourth inning to break a scoreless tie and lead the White Sox to a 9-3 victory over the Mariners on Sunday.
The White Sox are now 1-0 with Viciedo in the lineup, and 3-0 since news of his arrival broke. Stretching it? You betcha!
Sitting six games out after a sweep in Seattle, the White Sox are running out of time and need to make moves this week. They’re home for a quick three game set with Minnesota Monday through Wednesday, then go to Detroit for a series that they have to win, if not sweep.
Justin Verlander will start Friday against the Sox. They got to Verlander the last time they faced him, but they’ve been mowed down by aces of late, so the starting pitching is going to have to continue doing what it has been doing – John Danks, the Sox’s hottest pitcher, will face Verlander. Danks threw a complete game shutout with 10 strikeouts on Saturday in Seattle.
