Ozzie Guillen: Not Our Problem

Ozzie Guillen made some poorly chosen statements in a recent interview in which he said

"“I love Fidel Castro. I respect Fidel Castro. You know why? A lot of people have wanted to kill Fidel Castro for the last 60 years, but that mother****** is still here.”"

The quote used everywhere are the first 2 sentences, “I love Fidel Castro. I respect Fidel Castro.”

We know Ozzie, we know he doesn’t always seem to think things through and it’s my guess that this was just a crappy joke that didn’t land where it was supposed to and the hidden landmine in the spot where it did land exploded in a big way. As a result, the Miami Marlins PR people are running around wildly trying to do their best to put the fire out. It was announced just before his press conference regarding the matter that he would be suspended for 5 games.

Whether the suspension is right or wrong, trying to teach him a lesson or just lip service to a group of unhappy fans and citizens of the Miami area, it’s not our problem.
