Tigers @ White Sox: Game 2
After a rather fulfilling victory yesterday against the Tigers, the Sox will spend this afternoon trying to stave off accusations of a fluke. Gavin Floyd will be doing some staving off of his own, trying to keep from watching balls fly out of the ballpark at the same rate that they did during his last time out.
The Tigers are sending left-hander Adam Wilk out to make his first Major League start. Wilk has apparently had HR issues of his own having given up 3 in his 13 innings of relief appearances last season. He’s had one start at Toledo this year and he made the most of it, going 5 while surrendering 0 runs for the win.
Today’s Lineup:
1.De Aza – CF
2.Brent Morel – 3B
3.Adam Dunn – DH
4.Paulie – 1B
5.Alex Rios – RF
6.Alexei – SS
7.Dayan – LF
8.Tyler Flowers – C
9.Gordo – 2B
A main objective is of course to keep the Tigers’ dynamic duo of Miguel Cabrera and Prince Fielder in check. Perhaps allow Mr. Cabrera a minute or two to run out and chalk the batter’s box himself so he’ll have no complaints later. With Wilk on the mound for the Tigers, it would be nice to see Gordon Beckham take the opportunity to get back in the swing of things. I’d make the same request of Dunn but I will temper my expectations, if he’s already struggling, lefties aren’t really what a quality doctor would prescribe.
