Humber on DL; Fukudome Gone

What in interesting day already for the White Sox. According to Chuck Garfien on Twitter Philip Humber is placed on the DL, retroactive to June 17th with a right elbow flexor strain. I don’t like people getting hurt, but much like when John Danks headed for the DL, the team is better off letting him get is act together whether the lack of performance was injury induced or not.

In Humber’s place, Brian Bruney comes back up to the big squad. Bruney caught quite a few looks last year, being heavily favored by Ozzie Guillen, he pitched in 23 games in 2011 despite posting an unimpressive 6.86 ERA. This season in Charlotte, however, Bruney is delivering a 1.85 ERA and striking out over a batter an inning. Bruney! Grrr…

That’s not all on the news front. Kosuke Fukudome, whose DL stint had come to an end, has been informed that his White Sox career has done so as well. He has been designated for assignment which may mean that Jordan Danks is on the team to stay. Fukudome didn’t see much playing time in 2012 and hit .171 with 0 power in the chances that he did have.
