Another Day, Another Roster Cut

The White Sox roster shrinks ever closer to the size necessary to start the 2013 season. In the latest round of cuts are some familiar if not beloved faces. Most notably Brent Morel’s attempt to get healthy and contribute will have to wait as he’s been optioned to AAA Charlotte. Morel may get a chance to come back up and prove that his back still has some life in it should either Conor Gillaspie falter, assuming he stays with the team when the season begins, or if Jeff Keppinger should have any more problems with his leg, shoulder, or heck maybe even a brand new injury. Going along with him to Charlotte will be right handed reliever Deunte Heath. Heath made his big league debut last season with the White Sox, appearing in 6 games and striking out 7.

Leading the crew of those reassigned to minor league camp is our old pal Zach Stewart, who isn’t much good in plain sight to any White Sox fans emotionally. Carlos Sanchez will patiently wait in the ranks to see if Gordon Beckham’s new stance is the beginning of something new, or a new look at the old results. Lefty reliever Daniel Moskos rounds out the group that will be subjected to the minor league fast food diet for the immediate future.

Opening Day is less than two weeks away. Get your coats out!
