Thursday for the Chicago White Sox had some good news and some bad news. The good news was they broke a 14-game losing streak to the Cleveland Indians by a 7-3 score.

The bad news … the team lost Avisail Garcia for the season, as it was found out he tore his left labrum and will need surgery. He injured his shoulder when diving for a catch Wednesday against the Colorado Rockies.

Dayan Viciedo will get most of the playing time in replacing Garcia. Jordan Danks was call-up to fill to roster spot. Jordan’s brother, John Danks, earned the win on Thursday.

Here is a video from the Chicago Sun-Times as they spoke to GM Rick Hahn about the injury.

Hahn described the injury and situation by saying, “It stinks.”

He’s right because it does. Besides Garcia being injured being the biggest problem, what also hurt is how Garcia will lose a year of progression and learning at the MLB level.

It hurts the White Sox because they’ve also lost a power bat in Garcia, but we all hope a healthy and speedy recovery for Garcia.

In other White Sox news:

• In an article on the official White Sox site, it says “Power Abreu gives White Sox a piece to build around.”

• At the Chicago Tribune, they have an article with Jose Abreu talking about hitting at US Cellular Field. He hit two home runs on Thursday.

• Here is an “rapid reaction” from ESPN Chicago about the White Sox 7-3 win over the Indians.

CSN Chicago has an article about how Dayan Viciedo is “in a good spot” in terms of helping the White Sox following the injury to Garcia.
