This three-game series with the Chicago White Sox hosting the Boston Red Sox will be the third home series of the season for Chicago, but both teams still have questions entering this 14th game of the season for the White Sox.

For the White Sox (7-6), they have won three of their past four games (all against the Cleveland Indians), while the Red Sox have lost three of their past four games (all against the New York Yankees).

Boston enters the series at 5-8 overall.

Here are “5 Bold Predictions” for the White Sox vs. Red Sox series.

1. Chicago will continue with their “hot bats”

It has been a surprise this season, but the bats of the White Sox have been very good for most games this season. It seems like someone different comes up when needed.

That can really be said about the last time the White Sox played a game on Sunday with Alexei Ramirez‘s two-run walk-off home run against the Indians.

That momentum from the home run, plus being one of the better teams in the AL in hitting stats, will keep on rolling along this series.

Sorry, Jake Peavy and Co.

2. Jose Abreu will have a better series than he had vs. Cleveland

In four games against the Indians, Abreu went 3-for-15 with seven strikeouts.

That will improve over the next three games, as Abreu is too good to continue that type of slide. He is still learning the MLB game, and his learning curve this year will continue, in what I feel will be a plus this series.

3. The starting pitching will win this series

Erik Johnson on Thursday will pitch his best game of the season … I hope. These are bold, and saying Johnson will pitch a good game against the Red Sox is being pretty bold, even though he has failed to do so this season.

Johnson is 0-1 overall with a 9.58 ERA.

If Johnson can just not let the Red Sox have a big inning, he’ll get a win in the series opener.

I’m not too worried about John Danks and Chris Sale, as they are two of the three better pitchers on the White Sox staff.

I believe this trio of starters can keep the White Sox in games, but what worries me is the bullpen.

4. Paul Konerko will hit a home run

I’ve been waiting for this to happen all season, and whether he be in a pinch-hit role or get a rare start as the designed hitter, Konerko, I hope, will leave this series with a home run.

5. Series Prediction
With all of that said, I’m still not 100-percent sure the White Sox will win this series. It seems like the Red Sox aren’t performing up to their standards, and the White Sox are playing a lot better than one year ago.

If the White Sox play their best in just one of the first two games, I believe Sale will be able to get them the series win on Thursday.
