After having a day off on Thursday the Chicago White Sox are back at US Cellular Field to host the San Diego Padres in an interleague three-game series.
Friday’s pitching matchup will be Chicago’s John Danks (3-4, 4.90 ERA) opposing San Diego’s Ian Kennedy, who is 3-6 on the year with a 3.59 ERA. For the season, Kennedy has 72 strikeouts.
It might be a safe bet to say a few runs could be scored.
In his past three starts, the right-handed Kennedy is 1-2 with a 4.82 ERA in 18.2 innings in that span. In that same time frame, Kennedy has 16 strikeouts.
Against Kennedy for his career, Adam Dunn is batting .600 against the Padres’ starter (five at-bats), hitting two home runs and tallying three RBIs.
On the other hand, Adam Eaton has a .167 career average against Kennedy in six at-bats.
Danks has only faced Seth Smith on the Padres’ roster the past five years, as he’s not allowed a hit to Smith in three at-bats.
In his most recent start on May 24, against the New York Yankees, Danks pitched eight innings, allowing three hits and no runs. He struck out four in the start at US Cellular Field.
This season, Danks has 45 strikeouts.
