Game Preview: White Sox, Chris Sale host Padres in finale

The Chicago White Sox are looking to salvage anything in the third of the three-game series against the San Diego Padres Sunday by seining the ace of the pitching staff, Chris Sale to the mound.

Sale will oppose San Diego’s Eric Stults, who is 2-5 with a 4.92 ERA in 11 starts this season.

Soults has pitched 56.2 innings, allowing 31 earned runs, In he previous start on May 27, Stults went six innings, allowing three earned runs on five hits against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Sale’s last start came on May 27 against the Cleveland Indians, as it was rain-shortened to a three-inning appearance. In those three innings Sale allowed no hits or runs, while striking out four. He walked one.

In his two starts since returning from the DL, Sale has struck out 14 batters in nine innings of work, including 10 against the New York Yankees on Mat 22. Sale has yet to allow a run since the DL return.

On the season, Sale is 4-0 with a 1.73 ERA, as he’s allowed seven earned runs in six starts.
