Friday the 13th is normally associated with bad luck and unfortunate outcomes. This year the Chicago White Sox are hoping the 13th of February is remembered for good fortune by signing right-handed relief pitcher, Matt Albers, to a minor league deal, first reported by Jon Heyman of CBS Sports. The acquisition adds another talented bullpen arm to the White Sox organization.
Albers, like Jesse Crain, whom the White Sox also signed to a minor league deal January 22nd, is coming back from a shoulder injury.

The addition of Albers gives the White Sox another contender for a spot in their bullpen. If he can prove that his shoulder is no longer a concern, the White Sox will benefit from another veteran presence in the bullpen along with his ability to induce ground balls.
If he can’t return to form, the White Sox are no worse for wear. It’s another low-risk, high reward signing by general manager, Rick Hahn.
