BALTIMORE – The White Sox and Orioles resumed their four game series on Friday night in Baltimore, after the O’s roughed up John Danks on Thursday night, handing the White Sox their first loss in seven games.

Carlos Rodon carried a shutout into the fifth inning, only allowing one hit, and no walks to that point. That was before the White Sox made two uncharacteristic errors, and allowed the Orioles to plate three runs, while running Rodon’s pitch count to rise into the seventies.

The White Sox would rally to tie the game with a run in the sixth inning, and a solo home run in the seventh by Brett Lawrie. But in the bottom of the seventh Rodon allowed Nolan Reimold to regain the lead for the O’s with a three run home run to right field.

The White Sox have lost dropped the first two games of the series, and are hoping that Chris Sale, and Mat Latos will be able to get the Sox out of Baltimore with a series split this weekend.

Scoring Summary

2nd Inning (Top): Avisail Garcia tripled in Melky Cabrera in the top of the second inning, giving the White Sox a 1-0 lead early on.

5th Inning (Bottom): After an error, a walk, and an infield single allowed the bases to be loaded for the O’s, second-baseman Jonathan Schoop plated Matt Wieters, and J.J. Hardy on a two run single to center-field. Joey Rickard then grounded to Brett Lawrie, who got the force out at second base, but an errant throw into the stands by shortstop Jimmy Rollins allowed the O’s to tack on one more in the inning, taking a 3-1 lead.

6th Inning (Top): Jose Abreu cut the Orioles lead to just one, on an RBI single that scored Adam Eaton.

7th Inning (Top): Brett Lawrie tied the game in the top of the seventh with a solo homer to left field off of O’s pitcher Mike Wright.

7th Inning (Bottom): Nolan Reimold hit a go-ahead three run homer to right field, giving the O’s a 6-3 lead.

Escape Act

Nolan Reimold gave the O’s the last bit of run support that they would need in the bottom of the seventh inning. With the game tied at three a piece, Reimold hit a three run home run to right field, and the 6-3 lead that he gave the Orioles would prove to be the deciding blow in the game.

Defensive Gem

In the bottom of the fifth inning Sox right-fielder Adam Eaton threw out Joey Rickard at home plate, to end the Orioles rally at three, giving the White Sox an opportunity to remain in the game.

Notables

 Jose Abreu: 2-4, RBI
