White Sox are in active trade talks with multiple teams regarding Jose Abreu according to rumor. This could be another big trade for Rick Hahn.

While the offseason has been relatively quiet, the Chicago White Sox are rumored to be in active trade talks with four teams over Jose Abreu. The Sox who made multiple splashes last offseason with two trades, could again make headlines this year.

According to Jon Heyman of Fan Rag, the Sox are in trade talks with at least four teams regarding Abreu. One of the teams Heyman mentioned was the Boston Red Sox. The Red Sox were in on singing Abreu back in 2013, but the White Sox ultimately outbid them with a six-year $68 million contract for the Cuban first baseman.

More from White Sox Rumors

The White Sox will enter their second season of their current rebuild in 2018, and won’t be expected to contend. However, if they trade Abreu they could get some more prospects added to a deep farm system. Abreu is coming off another impressive season in 2017 and has become an attractive trade target this offseason.

Many White Sox fans might not be happy with the team exploring a possible trade of the veteran first baseman. Despite a losing season in 2017, Abreu showcased his leadership abilities throughout the year and could be valuable for the next contending White Sox team.
