Multiple White Sox prospects have multi-home run games in their respective team’s Opening Day on Thursday as it was a great day for the affiliates.

Thursday was Opening Day for the minor leagues and many of the White Sox affiliates got great results from top prospects. While the major league team has begun the season with a 2-3 record, fans can find great delight in seeing the results from White Sox minor league affiliates in their respective season openers.

One of the White Sox affiliates, Triple-A Charlotte, had terrific performances from White Sox prospects Zack Collins and Danny Mendick. Each player made their Triple-A debut on Thursday. For Collins, he had one of the better performances of the night as he went 3-for-5 with two home runs and five RBIs in the Knights 12-11 victory over the Durham Bulls.

Mendick also hit a home run as he finished 1-for-5 with three RBIs. For each player, their Triple-A debuts couldn’t have gone any better. Collins getting off to a good start could help the 2016 first draft pick build some positive momentum to begin this season. Mendick could be in line for a promotion in the coming months if he can perform well consistently.

Another prospect that had a multi-home run game on Thursday was Luis Robert. The 21-year-old center fielder that has battled multiple injuries since signing with the Sox in 2017 had his best game yet as a professional. In High-A Winston-Salem’s 9-4 win over the Frederick Keys, Robert went 2-for-4 with two home runs, five RBIs and one walk.

Robert starting the season in High-A could be due to his injury history. He only appeared in just 50 games last season and will need a full season of baseball this year. If Robert can remain healthy throughout this season, it wouldn’t be surprising if he ends the year in Triple-A with the Knights.
