The Chicago White Sox have a budding superstar at third base, and he seems to keep getting better as the season moves along.

The Chicago White Sox knew they had to get a prospect that would turn into a star when they traded their superstar pitcher Chris Sale to begin a rebuild. They seem to have done that because Yoan Moncada is budding into a superstar himself. He is asserting himself as the best player on the team and is a guy they are now building around.

He went into the second half with an MLB leading 13 game hit streak. In the first inning of the game, he extended it to a now MLB leading 14th straight games. These are career-high numbers for Moncada and he is now officially on fire. The White Sox lost the game 5-1 but Moncada was in the middle of all of the White Sox offense.

It was the 7th time that Moncada had three or more hits in a single game. It moved his slash line up to .314/.369/.547 for the season. These are so incredible, especially when you consider where he was in 2018 when he led the entire Major Leagues in strikeouts. Now he is more aggressive while maintaining his really good eye at the same time.

It is time to start talking about Moncada as one of the best players right now in all of baseball. He leads the Majors in batting average since May 30th and is only continuing to get better. He leads the White Sox in wins above replacement (WAR) which only shows how important of a player he is and will be for a long time.

Third base is one of the deepest positions in the big leagues and Yoan Moncada is a major part of it. He is fourth in WAR amongst third basemen and only Alex Bregman (3.9), Matt Chapman (3.7), Kris Bryant (3.6) have a better number than Moncada’s 3.5 WAR. All three of those other guys were all-stars while Moncada was a snub so expect him to be out to show he deserved to be there in the second half. This is an amazing player and the Sox are so lucky to have him.
